Marga Duin lives and works in Zandvoort, Holland, near the sea, a source of continuous inspiration, which drives her
to introspection and meditation on the surrounding world. In her paintings, it is possible to catch
traces of the sea in colors, shapes, and rhythmical movement.
She works like a composer creating a piece of music. She uses color to achieve modulations that can be subtly
chromatic or dramatically contrasted. Her paintings are firmly structured, rhithmically articulated, and lyrical in mood. They embody
a certain directness and force of expression. The longer we study Duin's compositions, however, the more becomes clear
that there is a great deal more content to these pictures than initially meets the eye. Duin's proces is intuitive, and results in abstract images that "express the
deepest and most fundamental emotions which make up human relationships."
Another side of her work is drawing models.
The quality of her nudes is interesting, she selects a part of the figure, reflects that on paper, then stops and selects a different
part of the same or a different figure and places that in the composition.Sweeping swaths of color are then applied to bring
the divergent sections together, eliminating any conflicting sense of fragmentation.
She works with a selected group of models; male and female.
Marga's work is exhibited in cities like New York, London, Beijing, Barcelona, Ferrara, Zürich and many other locations around the world.
In 2006 she received an award for her work during the International Contemporary Art Exhibition; "The Magic Paths of Art", at the Estence Castle, Ferrara, Italy.
Work of hers has been purchased by the Municipality of Noord Holland, and also forms part of various private collections.
Art is an essential part of her life and always has been. In this she makes no concessions and follows her own direction.
